Q Malbec 2021, South Eastern Australia

Malbec from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 28-Feb-2022
Full, deep ruby with a purple hue, even colour throughout. The nose is rich, packed with up-front aromas of mulberries, blueberries and blackberries melded harmoniously with nuances of dark herbs and cedar. Full-bodied, the palate is bright with intense, fresh, primary fruit flavours of mulberries, blueberries, blackberries, with dark herbs and cedar notes. The fruit is supported by supple tannin extraction and balancing acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and accessible. The flavours of blue-black berries, herbs and cedar flavours are carried to a moderately sustained finish. This is a lush, primary fruited Malbec with berry, herb and cedar on a supple and accessible palate. Match with summer barbeque and charcuterie over the next 2-3 years. Malbec dominant blend (86%) and Durif (14%) fermented in a combination of stainless-steel vats and 20-tonne open fermenters over 7 to 10 days, aged in 2-year-old American Hogsheads for 8 months. 14% alc. 17.5-/20 pts (87 pts) Feb 2022 RRP $25
