Pyramid Valley Weaver Sauvignon Blanc 2021, Marlborough

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 17-May-2023
Bright, even, pale yellow with some depth. The bouquet is gentle and still, with aromas of wildflower, hay, spice, underlying yellow stonefruit, citrus and herb. Medium-full bodied, apricot, grapefruit and lemon aromas interweaved with zest, elderflower, hay and cardamom. This slightly dense, weighty mouthfeel reflects clay minerals and elderflower cordial. The acidity is fine and soft, persists with spice to a lengthy, dry finish. This Sauvignon Blanc is textural with a soft, weighty mouthfeel, slightly savoury with clay minerals, floral elements, well-balanced fruit, and a fine acid line. Match with goat's cheese tart and chicken terrine over the next 5 years. Fruit from a hillside vineyard on northeast-facing slopes overlooking Omaka River, planted in the 90s. Handpicked, whole bunch pressed into a wooden ovum, wild fermented to 14% alc, aged 12 months in French oak, unfined & unfiltered. 19+/20 pts (96 pts) May 2023 RRP $85
