Pyramid Valley Sauvignon + 2019, North Canterbury

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 26-Feb-2021
Bright, pale straw-yellow, slightly lighter rim. The nose is lively, softly full with citrus, nettle, tropical fruit melded with a hint of chamomile and hay, along with grassy and spicy herb elements. Medium-light bodied, passionfruit and guava are taking the lead with a savoury edge, entwined with lemongrass, chamomile and nettle, linger with spicy basil on the closing. The wine has buoyant acidity, lively flow with good energy, and a round and creamy texture with subtle phenolic thread. This is a delicate and detailed Sauvignon Blanc, with vibrant but not overt, complex aromas on a soothing texture palate. Match with Vietnamese lemongrass fish and scallops over the next 3 years. A blend of three vineyards in North Canterbury, fermented with natural vineyard yeasts in a combination of tank, neutral barrels and clay amphora. 8% fermented on skins for 2-3 weeks and left on its ferment lees without SO2 for 3 months and bottled unfined. Vegan friendly. 13.5% alc. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Feb 2021 RRP $30
