Pyramid Valley Pinot Noir 2019, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 26-Feb-2021
Ruby-red with good transparency, lighter on the rim. The nose is gently full, aromas of vibrant red cherries, raspberries entwined with black pepper, earth, herbs and orange peels. Medium-full bodied, vibrant aromas of red cherries, raspberries have a good core, warming black pepper on the back palate, unveiling floral fragrance, earth and positive orange peel bitterness. Acidity is lively with good energy; a complex range of aromas and a little savouriness are cleared in layers. Fine-grained tannin extraction lightly coated the palate with a chalky grip. This is a bright Pinot Noir with multi-layers and depth on a chalky tannin palate. Match with duck a l'orange and roasted quails over the next 5 years. Fruit from Manata Estate (Lowburn Ferry property), unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulphur additions. 13.5% alc. Vegan friendly. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Feb 2021 RRP $50
