Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 17-May-2023
Bright, pale yellow, even colour throughout. The nose is full and pleasing, with stonefruit, citrus, floral, spice and custard aromas. Medium-bodied, aromas of apricot and nectarine interweaved with lemon curd, grapefruit zest, citrus blossom, delicate spice, creamy custard and saline. The wine is concentrated with spice and citrus layers, a well-portioned creamy/ buttery element. The fine, lacy acid line carries a lengthy, harmonious finish. Match with prawns risotto and crab legs over the next 5-7 years. Handpicked, fermented in French oak barrels with wild yeasts, aged 12-18 months, bottles unfined, unfiltered. 14% alc. 19/20 pts (95 pts) May 2023 RRP $40
