Prunotto Barolo DOCG 2005

Nebbiolo from Italy - Piedmont
Review Date : 31-May-2012
Nebbiolo from ‘Monforte', ‘Serralunga' and ‘Castiglion Falletto', 14.0% alc, the wine aged 2 years in large oak with a small portion in barrique. Deepish ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance, the bouquet is full and solid with robust dark berry fruit aromas, along with savoury, meaty herb notes, a little brettanomyces in the background, but with fruit to the fore. Full-bodied, moderately rich savoury red fruits are intermixed with game and herbs and some coffee-like oak. The palate is mouthfilling and has a robustness, supported by fine tannin grip, just tending dry, but with good acidity. This has a rustic aspect but the modern-traditional style is evident. Drink over 7-10 years.  17.5+/20  May 2012
