Preieler ‘Johanneshohe’ Blaufrankisch 2011

Other Red from Austria
Review Date : 16-Mar-2015
Very full, deep and near impenetrable black-red colour. The nose is full, broad and deeply concentrated with an array of savoury aromatics with dark red and black berried fruits melded with game meat, earth and spices and undergrowth. Full-bodied, this is fulsome with plenty of tannin extraction, grip and structure encasing the densely pack fruit flavours of dark red berry fruits, game, earth and dried herbs. The acidity is restrained, providing some drive and balancing sweetness to the fruit, and the wine carries to a solid, firm and grippy finish. This is a big, mouthfilling rustic Blaufrankisch. 5-7+ years easily. Needs hearty red meat fare. Neusiedlersee, Burgenland. Fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and aged in large barrel. 18.0/20 Mar 2015 RRP $47.00
