Ponzi ‘1970-2010 Anniversary Reserve’ Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from USA
Review Date : 02-Aug-2013
Dark ruby-red colour with moderate depth, some purple hues. The bouquet is elegant with light aromas of red berry fruits and gentle herb and cooler stalk aromas. Light-medium bodied, the fruit is restrained and light, allowing the acidity and sinewy extraction to show. Red berries along with some game-like notes are present. The flavours are straightforward, rather uncomplicated, mono dimensional, and are carried to a dry, textural finish. This is a lighter, slender Pinot Noir with sinewy textures. 4+ years. Fruit mainly from the ‘Aurora’, ‘Abetina’ and ‘Avellana’ vineyards, hand-picked and destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.3% alc., and aged 20 months in 50% new French oak barrels. 2,500 6-packs made. 16.5+/20 Jul 2013 RRP USD $60.00
