Pond Paddock ‘Zoée’ Martinborough Rosé 2016

Rose from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 14-Apr-2017
Bright, pale strawberry-pink colour with some depth, pale edged. This has a soft and delicate, clean and pure nose with a fine core of strawberry fruit and subtly lifted red florals along with thirst-quenching mineral elements. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, delicate and uncomplicated flavours of strawberries show with interwoven nuances of red florals and minerals. The mouthfeel is light and refreshing, guided by a very fine phenolic threaded line. Refreshing acidity provides poise and balance, and as the wine flows, sweet, aromatic cherry elements unfold and carry to a fine, moderately lingering, dry finish. This is a delicate, dry rosé with strawberry and floral fruit with subtle cherry aromatics and sweetness, and a refreshing, mouthwatering palate. Serve as an aperitif and with canapes over the next 2 years. 100% Abel clone, 50% from the ‘Thompson’ vineyard on Shooting Butts Road and 50% from the ‘Grava’ vineyard on Lake Ferry Road, both south of Martinborough village, harvested for rosé production, given 4 hours skin contact and tank fermented with 20% in seasoned French oak by indigenous yeasts to 13.0% alc. and 3.0 g/L RS. 17.0+/20 Nov 2016 RRP $24.00 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade’, the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews’ operates
