Pond Paddock ‘Zarathustra’ Martinborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 14-Apr-2017
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with pale green hues, very light on the rim. The nose is fresh and tightly bound, with ethereal, put positive aromas of tropical fruits and gooseberries along with gentle notes of fresh herbs and mouthwatering mineral nuances. With aeration, savoury, pungent passionfruit aromas emerge. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features bright and vibrant fruit flavours of passionfruit and tropical fruits, entwined with subtle notes of gooseberries, dark herbs and minerals. The palate is moderately concentrated and follows a firm, dry, phenolic textured line with crisp acidity lending energy and enhancing the vitality. The wine carries to a dry-textured, lingering finish with thirst-quenching passionfruit and mineral nuances. This is a fresh and lively Sauvignon Blanc with passionfruit, tropical fruit and mineral flavours on a firm, dry-textured palate. Serve with seafood, salads and vegetables, and Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. Fruit from 50% ‘Pencarrow’ vineyard and 50% ‘Canadoro’ vineyard, both on the Martinborough Terrace, 80% cool-fermented in tank and 20% in seasoned French oak to 13.0% alc. and 2 g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months on lees. 17.5/20 Nov 2016 RRP $22.00 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade’, the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews’ operates
