Pol Roger Champagne ‘Vintage Rosé’ 2002

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 29-Nov-2011
From a very warm year producing very healthy fruit. This is 50% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay from around 20 premier cru and grand cru sites with 15% Pinot Noir red wine added prior the second fermentation. Pale salmon pink with ‘eye of the partridge' hues, lighter on rim, with persistent, fine bead. The nose has bright, ripe strawberry and red berry aromas very subtly expressed, but with great definition. Beautifully balanced, gentle autolytic notes of bready yeast allow the freshness of bouquet feature. Dry to taste initially, this is a wine of subtlety and supple ness with delicately rich strawberry fruit flavours. Fresh, lacy acidity enhances the sweetness of the fruit and provides a fine textured cut and liveliness. The flavours are harmoniously balanced and poised with freshness yet richness, which grows on the sustained finish. This will develop another 5+ years easily. 19.0+/20 Nov 2011
