Pol Roger Champagne ‘Vintage Brut’ 2000

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 29-Nov-2011
Pol Roger Champagne ‘Vintage Brut' 2000 «««« A blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from 20 grand cru and premier cru sites, aged 8 years before release. Full, light golden straw-colour with a moderately persistent, fine bubble. This has a full, broad and sold bouquet of volume and presence, the aromas of berry fruits and yellow stonefruits intermixed with yeast and toast a little restrained and stylish for it. Some complexity is just appearing. Dry, firm, somewhat robust in presentation, this has a solidness and fine textural thread running the line of the palate. The flavours are developing interest and complexity, with a richness in the expression. Yellow stonefruits, sweetness and toasty, brioche from the autolysis. Not as refined as it could be, this is a more forward style that is drinking well now and over the next 3-4+ years. 17.5+/20 Nov 2011
