Poggio Anima ‘Uriel’ Sicilia Grillo DOC 2017

Other White from Italy - Other
Review Date : 29-Nov-2018
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with some depth, paler edged. The nose has good depth and intensity with a concentrated core with well-packed aromas of yellow stonefruits entwined with a layer of nutty elements. This has good aromatic weight and presence. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is soft and rounded with a restrained heart showing flavours of yellow stonefruits and an array of nutty notes. The palate is soft-texture with plenty of vinosity, the soft acidity adding to the weighty mouthfeel. The wine carries smoothly to a light, nuanced finish. This is a weighty, dry Grillo with a soft and rounded mouthfeel, with restrained flavours of yellow stonefruits and nuts. Match with poultry, pork and veal dishes over the next 2+ years. 100% Grillo fruit from Chirchiaro, western Sicily, vines 19 y.o., given some skin contact and fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 6 months on lees. 2,000 cases made. 17.5/20 Nov 2018 RRP $22.00
