Poggio Anima ‘Lilith’ Salento Primitivo IGP 2017

Other Red from Italy - Other
Review Date : 18-Jul-2018
Dark, even ruby-red colour with black hues at the heart, lighter edged with purple tints. The nose is very soft, full and broad, and deeply packed with aromas of very ripe fruits, showing black plums, black and blueberries and boysenberries, along with raisin and porty elements. This is very plush in expression. Medium-full bodied, the palate is succulently sweet, near opulent in richness and ripeness, with flavours of black plums, blackberries and boysenberries, along with subtle blueberry and raisin notes. The flavours are mouthfilling and the fruit is underlined by fine-grained tannin extraction lending grip, with some alcoholic power providing drive. The acidity is integrated, and the wine carries to a plump, plummy finish. This is an opulent and sweetly ripe Primitivo with black plum and blueberry fruit on a palate with fine structure and some alcoholic drive. Match with grilled and roasted red meats over the next 3-4 years. 100% Primitivo from San Pietro, vines 27 y.o., fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 10% new French oak barriques. 2,000 cases made. 17.5+/20 Jul 2018 RRP $22.00
