Poggio Anima ‘Asmodeus’ Terre Siciliane Nero d’Avola IGP 2016

Other Red from Italy - Other
Review Date : 31-Jul-2018
Very dark ruby-red colour with black-purple hues, a little lighter edged. The nose is soft is soft and elegant, somewhat restrained in expression, but unfolds notes of ripe blackberries, blueberries and boysenberries along with plum elements. This is gentle and harmonious, and builds in depth with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate is rich, soft and juicy with luscious flavours of ripe black and blue fruits and black plums. The flavours are up-front and form a rounded, but deep heart, with soft-textured tannin extraction in support. The acidity is integrated, and the wine carries to a soft and mellow finish. Serve with pizza, pasta and barbecued fare over the next 3+ years. 100% Nero d’Avola from Caltanissetta, vines 24 y.o., fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 2 months in seasoned French and American barriques, followed by 10 months in tank. 17.5/20 Aug 2018 RRP $22.00
