Poggio Anima ‘Asmodeus’ Sicilia Nero d’Avola DOC 2017

Other Red from Italy - Other
Review Date : 18-Jul-2018
Dark, deep, black-hued purple-ruby colour, a little lighter on the rim, youthful in appearance. The nose is elegantly proportioned with deep and concentrated, vibrantly lively aromas of ripe dark-red and black berried fruits along with plum notes and lifted floras, unfolding some black pepper and minerals. This shows excellent aromatic intensity. Medium-bodied, the palate has sweetly ripe, rich fruit flavours of blackberries, boysenberries and plums forming a soft, rounded heart. Dark-red floral and black mineral notes add detail. The flavours are mouthfilling and the mouthfeel is soft with supple tannins supporting the fruit, and soft acidity enhancing the roundness. The flavours carry to a soft, fulsome, succulent finish with some balancing grip. This is a sweetly ripe anrich Nero d’Avola with black fruits on a rounded, mouthfilling palate with supple tannins. Match with barbecued and roasted red meats over the next 3-4 years. 100% Nero d’Avola from Caltanissetta, vines 24 y.o., fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 3 months in French and American oak. 5,000 cases made. 18.0/20 Jul 2018 RRP $22.00
