Plume by Lake Chalice Pinot Noir 2017, Marlborough

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 27-Aug-2020
Deep, ruby-purple with depth, even colour throughout. The bouquet is gently penetrating aromas of sweet herbs, dark fruit entwined with tobacco and spices. Medium-full bodied, concentrated core of red berries, red cherries, ripe raspberries, along with black pepper, cinnamon are in harmony, unfolding subtle sweet herbs, earth and underlaying tobacco nuances. The fruit is fresh in flavour with good intensity, supported by a lacy acid line, enhanced freshness and energy flow to linearity. Supple tannin extraction is silky and matured, provides a powdery texture line and velvety mouthfeel. The wine is in excellent shape, ready to drink, will benefit from decanting. Match with lamb loin and duck over the next 6-8 years. Fruit from Waihopai Valley. Handpicked, Clone 667 and 114, whole bunches, fermented to 13.5% alc. Aged in French oak, a small portion of new oak. Unfined, unfiltered. 18.5+/20 pts Aug 2020 RRP $49.99
