Pirinoa Road ‘Single Vineyard’ Martinborough Chardonnay 2009

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 07-Feb-2013
Clones 95, 2/23 and 15 from the ‘Pirinoa Road' site, WBP and fermented to 14.3% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 20% new French oak, the wine undergoing MLF to taste and batonnage. Full, even, straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. This has a full and dense nose, somewhat restrained, showing aromas of ripe citrus fruits, clean steely, mineral notes, nutty oak and some savoury, secondary, buttery hints. Full-bodied, this has a soft, rich, broad and open palate packed with flavours of ripe citrus fruits, mealy notes, nutty, and toasty oak. The breadth of the wine enhanced by soft acidity. The palate is weighty and smooth in mouthfeel, quite integrated and harmonious, and the wine finishes with sustained nutty, toasty flavours. This is a fulsome, smooth and integrated Chardonnay with rich citrus fruit and nutty, toasty oak. Match with roast pork over the next 3-4 years. 320 cases made. 17.5+/20 Oct 2012 RRP $20.00
