Dark ruby-red colour with some purple hues and depth, lighter edged. This has a softly full and gently voluminous nose of ripe, dark-red berry fruits interwoven with savoury herb and earth complexities, nuances of whole bunch stalk, and a layer of nutty, toasty oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate features a rich and concentrated core, packed with up-front flavours of dark-red berry fruit along with savoury, complexing herb and earth notes. The fruit has richness and is supported by fine-grained tannin grip and structure and integrated, underlying acidity. The palate has good weight and presence, and carries to a sustained finish of savoury red fruit. This is a moderately rich, gently concentrated Pinot Noir with savoury dark-red berry fruits and complexing herb-stalk nuances and good structure. Match with lamb, beef, venison and game meat over the next 5+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Croft’ vineyard, indigenous yeast fermented with 10% whole bunches to 13.9% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 20% new French oak barriques. 17.5-/20 Sep 2016 RR$29.99
