Pinot Brothers Circle B Waitaki Pinot Noir 2018, North Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 31-Aug-2022
Deep ruby-red with a faint garnet hue, lighter on edge. This has a gently full, developed bouquet with smoke, game and mushroom, underlying dark herbs, dried cherry and cranberry. Medium-bodied, dried cranberry and cherry aromas entwined with minerals, followed by mushroom, game, black pepper and nutmeg. The wine is elegantly presented, development added complexity and interest, supported by integrated, lively acidity, showing strength and linearity. Chalky minerality and powdery tannins coated the palate in silk. This elegant Pinot Noir possesses a red fruit core with developed savoury features and a spicy, long finish on a fine-textured, minerally mouthfeel. Match with roasted pigeon and pork scotch steak over the next 5 years. Fermented with 50% whole bunches with wild yeasts to 13.5% alc, 20-21 days on skins, aged 9 months in seasoned French oak barrels. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Aug 2022 RRP $40
