Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 31-Aug-2022
Deep, ruby-red with a slight garnet hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is gently full, with depth, aromas of dark herb melded with dark cherry and raspberry, underlying a smoky layer. Medium-bodied, nuances of cherry and raspberry entwined with dark herb and liquorice, smoky spice lends a sweet-fruited finish. The fruit has sweetness balanced with lacy, bright acidity. Slightly sandy, fine tannins leave a fine mouthfeel. This silky Pinot Noir shows dark and red fruit and herb details with lively acidity; a spicy finish added interest. Match with roasted pork and duck over the next 5 years. Fermented with 10% whole bunches with wild yeasts to 13.5% alc, 20-21 days on skins, aged 16 months in seasoned French oak barrels. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) Aug 2022 RRP $40
