Pierre Gaillard ‘Rose Pourpre’ Cote-Rotie 2009

Syrah from France - Rhone
Review Date : 27-May-2012
100% Syrah from the 0.8 ha Cote Rozier site, aged 18 months in 50% new oak. Very full, black-purple red, very youthful in appearance. This has a very full bouquet with dense aromas of savoury black fruits with hints of game eat and oak spices, all interwoven and in balance. Full-bodied and weighty, this has real richness, with density and breadth. The flavours of black fruits, meat, dark spices and black pepper are a little restrained, and framed by serious structure. The fruit and tannins are well-ripened, but good acidity carries the flavour through to a good finish. This is a weighty and densely textured wine that unfolds game and spice notes in the glass. 12-15 years of life ahead.  19.0-/20  May 2012  RRP $190.00
