Pierre Gaillard Cote-Rotie 2009

Syrah from France - Rhone
Review Date : 27-May-2012
90% Syrah and 10% Viognier, the wine aged 18 months in 50% new oak. Very dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour, very youthful. The nose is very intense with ripe, black fruits. lifted with violetty perfumes, and spiced with black pepper and oak. A full-bodied wine, this is very tightly bound, quite elegant with fine features and fine textures. Black florally fruit flavours with violets, pepper, oak spices are lifted by the Viognier component, which contributes bright, but soft acidity. This is a very aromatic and fine, modernist Cote-Rotie that will keep 10 years plus.  18.5+/20  May 2012  RRP $99.00
