Bright, pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on the edge. The nose is very fresh and youthfully tight with aromas of yellow stonefruits along with subtle notes of exotic yellow and rose-petal florals entwined with nuances of honeysuckle, herbs and minerals. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has tightly bound, light fruit flavours of white and yellow stonefruits intermixed with exotic floral and mineral notes forming a concentrated core. Fruit sweetness shows, the wine unfolding spice elements. The wine flows along a soft-textured palate line with balanced, soft acidity, leading to a moderately long finish of florals and honeysuckle. This is an elegant, dry Pinot Gris with light concentration of exotic floral and stonefruits on a softly rich and balanced palate. Match with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the company’s Upper Wairau Valley and ‘Seaview’ Awatere vineyards cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 4.1 g/L RS, the wine aged 2 months on lees. 17.0/20 Oct 2016 RRP $17.95
