Moderately full and deep ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. This has a fine and elegant nose with good intensity of dark cherry and raspberry fruit aromas along with notes of dark herbs and oak spices. Medium-bodied, bright raspberry and plum flavours are presented with a stylish restraint and density. This has balance and harmony with fine tannin background and subtle acid tension. Gentle layers of plums and red liquorice along with some oak lift unfold and the flavours blossom, becoming sweeter and richer, providing substantial mouthfeel and interest. The wine has a long and sustained finish. This is a balanced, raspberry-fruited Pinot Noir which grows in richness and mouthfeel. Match with roast puck or pork over the next 4-5 years. Clones 777, 5, 114 and 115 from 12 blocks in the Awatere and Wairau Valleys, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc., a portion of the wine aged in 2 y.o.
