Fruit from the Rapaura sub-region, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc., a portion of the wine aged on second year French oak. Full. bright, vibrant purple-hued ruby-red colour, very youthful in appearance, this has a very primary nose of raw berry and plum aromas in the cooler spectrum with herbaceous, sappy notes. Medium-full bodied, the flavours of red currants and red berry fruits sit alongside herb and sappy notes, though there is a sweetness to the expression. The acidity and supple tannins provide a harmonious mouthfeel and line through the palate and the wine is very accessible now. Drink over the next 3-5 years with barbecued red meats and Mediterranean fare. 16.0/20 May 2011 RRP $21.50
