Petane Station Esk Valley Hawke’s Bay Viognier 2015

Viognier from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 06-Apr-2016
Bright, light golden-yellow colour, pale on the edge. The nose is full with gentle breadth and volume, the aromatics a little reserved, but unfolding to show fresh, ripe apricot and citrus blossom fruit entwined with exotic florals. The nose has a fresh, steely and minerally core. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, this has intense and penetrating flavours of apricots, yellow stonefruits and citrus blossom lifted by exotic florals. The fruit is tightly bound with a firm core and good linear drive. The mouthfeel is bright and lively with lacy acidity which combines with some alcoholic power carrying the wine to a long, concentrated finish. This is a concentrated and intense Viognier with exotic fruit and citrus blossom notes, freshness, power and drive. Serve with seafood and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Tracks’ block, WBP and fully barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc. and dryness, the wine aged 8 months in one-third new French oak barrels. 65 cases made. 18.0/20 Apr 2016 RRP $31.00
