Petane Station Esk Valley Hawke’s Bay Gewurztraminer 2015

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 06-Apr-2016
Bright, light golden-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, pale on the rim. The nose is full and voluminous with deep and powerful aromas of exotic rose-petal florals, Turkish Delight, soft musky perfumes and honied notes. Spice and mineral elements emerge from the core with aeration. Dryish to taste, rich, lusciously exotic flavours of rose-petal florals, Turkish Delight, spices, musk and honeysuckle fill the palate. The mouthfeel is soft and fine in texture with a suggestion of unctuousness. Generous alcohol drive harmoniously underlines the fruit and enhances the considerable presence. This has drive and power, and the wine carries to a strong, long and flavoursome finish of exotic spices and musk. This is a rich and exotic, dry Gewurztraminer fulsome mouthfeel and plenty of power. Serve with Chinese and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Bellbird’ block, showing shrivel and raisins, WBP and tank-fermented to 15.0% alc. and approx. 2 g/L RS, the wine aged 7 month on lees. 70 cases made. RRP $36.00
