Perrin ‘Reserve’ Cotes du Rhone 2009

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 25-Jun-2011
A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre and Cinsault from vineyards in Prebois and Vinsobres by the Perrin family of Chateau de Beaucastel fame. Very full, dark, deep ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. The bouquet is tight and fine with intense, beautifully aromatic raspberry, plum, herb and liquorice notes, quite lifted and very primary in expression. An elegantly proportioned wine on palate, this has lovely ripe raspberry and dark cherry flavours along with elements of pepper and herbs. Youthful esters lift the fruit. There is concentration, but the wine is already supple with a some soft tannin grip and fine textures, and finishes dry. A modern, medium-bodied wine at 13.5% alc., with bright fruit. Match with poultry, pork, lamb and Mediterranean dishes over the next 5-7+ years. 17.5+/20 Jun 2011 RRP $32.95
