Penny’s Hill ‘The Handshake’ Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 05-Mar-2012
Fruit sourced from the Adelaide Hills, business done ‘with a handshake', cool-fermented to 13.5% alc., 20% fermented and aged 5-6 months in 2 y.o. French barriques. Bright straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is fresh and tight with aromas of grapefruit and limes, minerals and flinty lees and a touch of oak nuttiness. Medium-bodied with soft citrus fruit and melon flavours alongside flinty complexities, the palate carries a fine textural thread with good vinous presence and soft acidity. The oak is very discreet, and the wine finishes dry with an amalgam of stonefruit and lees characters. Serve this elegant, fresh and soft textured Chardonnay with seafood and poultry over the next 3-4 years. 233 cases made. 17.0+/20 Mar 2012 RRP $35.00
