Penkridge Farm Pinot Noir 2021, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 27-Sep-2022
Deep ruby-red, moderately transparent, lighter on the rim. The nose is rich and broody, with dark cherry and plum aromas melded with herb, vanilla and spice. Medium-full bodied, aromas of dark cherry and plum enriched by thyme, black pepper, cinnamon and clove. The flavours are savoury and bound with a hint of earthiness. The mouthfeel is velvety with smooth-grained tannins. Balanced, integrated acidity lengthens and drives a sustained finish. This savoury Pinot Noir possesses concentrated dark fruit, entwined with dark herbs and spice on a refined palate. Match with roasted duck and lamb over the next 6-8 years. Fruit from Pisa, 50% clone 10/5 and 50% Abel, fermented to 14% alc, aged 9 months in French oak, 25% new oak. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Sep 2022 RRP $40
