Penkridge Farm Pinot Noir 2019, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 23-Apr-2021
Moderate ruby-red with some depth and good transparency, slightly lighter edged. The nose is soft and youthful, nuances of red berries, cherries are vibrant, melded with subtle florals, spices and a hint of game and savoury element. Medium-bodied, lush aroma of red berries, cherries, and plums have a good core, unveiling subtle red floral, cloves and cinnamon, and liquorice hints. Mouthwatering acidity integrated with the wine provides a vibrant drive, carry lifting spices throughout the palate. There's a fine structure of tannin, well-framed the wine with silky tannin. Savoury and gamey elements added interest. This is an elegant Pinot Noir with fine structure, fragrantly lush fruit and savoury complexity. Match with duck and wild boar over the next 6-8 years. Fermented to 13.4% alc, aged in barrels for 9 months approx, 25% new oak. 100 cases produced. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Apr 2021 RRP $40
