Penkridge Farm Pinot Gris 2019, Central Otago

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 23-Apr-2021
Bright, even, pale straw-yellow with some depth. The nose is softly full and alluring, filled the glass with nuances of Gala apple and Nashi pear, subtle white floral interweave, crunchy mineral and a lift of white spices. Medium-bodied, dry-ish to taste, pretty aromas of white florals melded with apple, Nashi pear, refreshing and clean palate flows with a mineral acid drive; ginger spice lingers to linearity. The mouthfeel is clean and crisp, balanced by a touch of sweetness added to weight and depth of flavours. Fine-textured phenolic thread build an elegant mouthfeel, emphasized floral component and ginger spice. This is an elegant Pinot Gris with a great balance of aromatics, refreshing acidity and a mineral drive. Match with Prawn and pork rice paper rolls and green curry over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from Mount Pisa, whole bunch pressed, fermented to 13.8% alc, 9 g/l RS, aged on lees for 3 months. 52 cases produced. 18.5/20 (93 pts) Apr 2021 RRP $28
