Penfolds ‘Yattarna’ Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from Australia - Tasmania
Review Date : 12-May-2013
95% Tasmania and 5% Adelaide Hills fruit, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 8 months in 57% new French oak barriques. Very youthful pale straw colour. The bouquet is one of sheer elegance, with tightly concentrated aromas of citrus fruits, white peaches, nuts and reductive wet-stone complexities interwoven as layers of detail. This is extremely refined, but there is great underlying power. Medium-full bodied, the flavours of citrus fruits, white stonefruits and nutty, mealy elements show with amazing intensity and depth. Yet this is elegant in proportion, with steely cut, beautifully fine acidity and textures. This has ‘puissance’ and linearity. The richness and sweetness of the fruit emerges with toast and roasted nuts, and flinty layers that extend the finish. This is a contemporary, elegant Chardonnay of great intensity and refinement to enjoy over the next 7-8+ years. 19.5+/20 May 2013 RRP $149.99
