Penfolds ‘Bin 407’ South Australia Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 19-Mar-2013
Very dark, black-hued purple-red colour. This has an intensely penetrating bouquet of pure Cabernet Sauvignon fruit showing blackcurrants and minty fruit aromas. The nose is very concentrated, slowly unfolding aromatic and spicy oak notes in the glass. Medium-full bodied, succulently rich and ripe, blackcurrant and cassis fruit flavours form a concentrated and linear core, with perfectly balanced, refined tannins. Subtle lacy acidity provides tension and adds to the drive. Oaking is unobtrusive and very much in the background allowing the fruit to be at the forefront. This has a completeness which carries through to a very long and sustained finish. This is a classical, ripe and refined Cabernet Sauvignon that will develop greater pencilly and cedary interest over the next 10-15 years. Cabernet Sauvignon fruit from Coonawarra, Wrattonbully, Robe, McLaren Vale and Padthaway, fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged in 23% new French and 10% new American oak hogsheads. 19.0/20 Mar 2013 RRP $69.99
