Review Date : 22-Nov-2015
First made in 1962. 100% Shiraz from Coonawarra, fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 26% new French oak hogsheads. Very dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour. This is very fine and tightly bound with intense and penetrating aromas of black berried fruits, black pepper, spices and herbs along with mint and lavender notes. Lifted aromatics lend elegance, and the richness is tempered by black mineral elements. Very elegant in presentation, the fruit of blackberries herbs and black pepper show with delicious richness and lusciousness. The ripe fruit is balanced by vibrant acidity lending vitality and poise. The acidity provides aromatic lift of violets, lavender and piquant herbs, unveiling fresh black mineral nuances. The tannins are beautifully fine-grained and the wine carries to a very long and sustained, refreshing finish. This has wonderful vitality and the acid freshness is its hallmark. 8-10+ years. 19.0-/20 Nov 2015 RRP $29.99
