Penfolds ‘Bin 128’ Coonawarra Shiraz 2011

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 19-Mar-2013
Coonawarra Shiraz fruit fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 25% new French oak hogsheads. Dark, deep, ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. This has an elegant nose with an amalgam of refined and delicate red florals and perfumes, along with notes of fresh, dark herbs and black pepper. Medium-full bodied, attractively aromatic red fruit flavours show with spices and pepper. The palate balances sweetness and very fine, grainy tannins, with fine, brisk and refreshing acidity enlivening the mouthfeel. This is an elegantly proportioned, cooler Shiraz with vitality and sweetness from excellent acid lift. A wine for 5-7 years. 17.5+/20 Mar 2013 RRP $32.99
