Brilliant, very pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. This has a full and fresh bouquet, packed with pungent aromas of passionfruit and herbs, gooseberries, capsicums and limes, the fruit positively herbaceous. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, ripe, juicy and vibrant tropical fruit and pungent passionfruit flavours are lifted by piquant fresh herbal notes. The palate has concentration and a rounded mouthfeel carried by slippery, refreshing acidity and a fine, textural line. Some alcohol power drives the sweet and bold flavours to a firm, lingering textured finish. This is a full, bold and youthfully racy Sauvignon Blanc with plenty of pungent passionfruit and fresh herb flavours. Match with salads, vegetables and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine over the next 2 years. Principally estate fruit with some contracted Martinborough Sauvignon, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.6% alc and 3.6 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees for 4 months. 18.0/20 Dec 2013 RRP $20.65
