50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% each Cabernet Franc and Malbec, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 2 years in French oak barriques. Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with some garnet on rim. This has an elegant and tightly concentrated bouquet of black and red currant fruit aromas with subtle herb and oak cedar elements adding interest. The nose has depth and intensity, unveiling a little secondary savoury development and nuance. Medium-full bodied and elegant in proportion, the flavours are stylishly restrained with finely concentrated flavours of earthy plummy fruit entwined with soft curranty layers. Dried herb and secondary earthy notes show complexing detail. The mouthfeel balances sweet juicy fruit with fine acidity and smooth, grainy tannins, the wine following an elegant line leading to a long, sustained finish. This is an elegantly concentrated Merlot and Cabernet blend with subtle sweetness and fine structure. Serve with roast lamb and hard cheeses over the next 5+ years. 17.5+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $29.95
