Pegasus Bay Waipara Valley Gewurztraminer 2014

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 28-Oct-2015
Brilliant golden-yellow colour with some depth, lighter on rim. The nose is full with rich and opulently aromas of ripe tropical fruits, exotic florals, Turkish Delight and ginger, marmalade, honey and musk, complexed by apricot kernels and nuances of savoury stonefruits. Sweet to taste and full-bodied, rich and opulent fruit flavours of tropical fruits, Turkish Delight, marmalade, honey and musk form a rounded core and flow across the palate. The acidity is soft and integrated and this has an unctuous texture and mouthfeel. The wine flows with vibrancy and energy, underlined by some alcohol power. This leads to a rich, softly concentrated, lingering finish with ginger, bitter stonefruits and honey. This is a soft, rich and plush, sweet Gewurztraminer with exotic flavours of tropical fruits, Turkish Delight, honey and musk. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern fare and semi-hard cheeses over the next 4-5 years. Late-picked fruit with considerable botrytis infection, given skin contact and indigenous yeast fermented in large old oak to 14.0% alc. and 55 g/L RS. 18.5+/20 Oct 2015 RRP $30.00
