Full, bright straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues. The bouquet has tightly bound aromas of ripe white stonefruits that unfold subtle layers of citrus fruits, nuts and flinty lees complexities. The nuances are seamlessly interwoven and grow in depth, unfolding in volume and presence with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fulsome with mouthfeel and vinosity, the flavours unfolding to show a complex, interwoven array of flavours of white and yellow stoneffruits, nutty oak and subtle flinty detail. The palate features a firmly concentrated and powerfully driven core with balanced background acidity that carries the ethereal, nutty flavours to a strong, lingering finish. This is a powerful Chardonnay in the white burgundy style with real vinosity and mouthfeel that unfolds subtly complex layers of stonefruit and nutty detail. Serve with seafood and most white meat dishes over the next 4-5+ years. Fruit from ungrafted vines over 25 y.o., indigenous yeast fermented with full solids in 30% new French oak puncheons to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in oak on lees, undergoing MLF. 19.0-/20 Aug 2014 RRP $36.95
