Pegasus Bay Riesling 2018, Waipara

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 25-Jan-2021
Bright, pale yellow with a slight green hue and some depth, even colour throughout, light effervescent in the glass. The nose is softly full, aromas of lime, green apple melded with floral, zest and spice, underlined minerals. Off-dry, medium-full bodied, lime and grapefruit aroma has a good core, unfolding spiced apple, honey and citrus zest lends a moreish, long finish. A fine-textured phenolic line flows with invigorating acidity, carries rich flavours of honey, zest and spice with ease and harmoniously. This is a rich flavoured off-dry Riesling with a succulent core, complexing details and a refreshing, ever-lasting moreish finish. Match with crispy pork belly and chicken katsu with curry over the next 7+ years. Riesling picked after an extended hang time with a small portion of botrytis. Free-run juice fermented cool to 13% alc, 24 g/l RS. Careful handling to retain a small amount of its natural carbon dioxide. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Jan 2021 RRP $30
