Pegasus Bay Muscat 2018, North Canterbury

Muscat from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 13-Sep-2022
Bright, medium yellow with a green hue, even colour throughout. The nose is full, with gentle aromas of lychee, mangosteen and Turkish delight interweaved with white floral, musk, smoke and spice. Full-bodied, off-dry to taste, perfumed and powerful aromas of lychee, mangosteen filled the palate along with honeysuckle, Turkish delight, ginger, smoke and beeswax. The wine is mouth-filling and powerful with concentration, spice and alcohol power. Balanced acidity carries the lush fruit and spice to a long and rich finish. This Alsacian style Muscat is powerful and opulent with complex interest and a sustained, spice finish. Match with chicken liver pate and Bleu d'Auvergne over the next 6+ years. Produced from Muscat a petit grain, gently pressed, free run juicy fermented in tank to 15.4% alc, 14g/l RS. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Sep 2022 RRP $30
