Pegasus Bay ‘Encore’ Waipara Valley Noble Riesling 2010

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 05-Aug-2013
Bright golden-yellow colour with good depth. This has a voluminous bouquet of ripe apricots, citrus and exotic tropical fruits intermixed with marmalade, and honied botrytis. The aromatics are deeply concentrated and unfold in waves. Very sweet to taste, rich and decadently luscious flavours of tropical fruits, apricots, orange marmalade and honey form a complex melange with the citrussy Riesling fruit. The palate is beautifully balanced by fresh, lacy acidity that enlivens the mouthfeel and provides an elegance and proportion. The poise between opulence and freshness is the feature. A refined unctuousness prevails and the palate flows seamlessly to a very long and sustained finish with citrus, wild honey, marmalade flavours. This is a beautifully poised, rich and opulent botrytised Riesling balanced by excellent acidity. Serve with a variety of desserts over the next 5-7+ years. Botrytised Riesling fruit picked on multiple passes and hand selected at the winery. Fermented at low temperatures to 10.5% alc. and 165 g/L RS, with 8.1 g/L TA. (375 ml) 19.5-/20 Aug 2013 RRP $36.95
