Pegasus Bay Aged Release Riesling 2012, North Canterbury

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 22-Feb-2022
Bright, medium yellow-gold, even colour throughout. The nose is complex and intriguing, with zesty aromas of lime and mandarin at core, green apple, guava in the mix, enriched by beeswax and ginger. Full-bodied, off-dry to taste, the palate is smooth and unctuous, green apple, guava, lime and mandarin entwined with zest and citrus preserve, unfolding ginger, beeswax and a hint of roasted nut on the finish. The seamless acidity has a vibrant tension that contributes to length and backbone. The fruit possesses good intensity and harmonious development. This is a rich, harmonious Riesling with incredible length and complex development. Match with pork cheek croquette and smoked fish brandade over the next 5 years. Late-picked fruit, cool-fermented in tank to 12.5% alc. and 23.5 g/L RS. 19/20 pts (95 pts) Feb 2022 RRP $40
