Pegasus Bay Aged Release Prima Donna Pinot Noir 2013, North Canterbury

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 10-May-2023
Medium deep ruby-red with a garnet hue, lighter on edge. This has a structured, intense bouquet with aromas of black cherry, dark plum, tea leaf, dried herb, forest floor, game and spices. Medium-full bodied, aromas of dried black cherry and plum melded with black tea leaf, forest floor and dried herb, unveiling an amalgam of spice and gamey interest. The wine is mouth-filling with spice and herbaceous layers. The rich and velvety palate is harmonious with power and concentration. This Pinot Noir is rich and velvety with multi-layers and a powerful structure, hauling a long and spicy lingering. Match with venison loin and herb-crusted lamb over the next 5-8 years. Fermented with approx 1/3 whole bunches, cold soaked for 1 week, then fermented naturally, post-ferment maceration for up to a week. Aged in French oak barriques, 40% new oak for 18 months. 13.5% alc. 19+/20 pts (96 pts) May 2023 RRP $130
