Paul Autard ‘Cuvee La Cote Ronde’ Chateauneuf du Pape 2006

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 17-May-2011
50% Grenache and 50% Syrah, from 60 y.o. vines, aged 18 months in new oak. Very dark, deep black-red with purple hues, this is solid and dense on nose with soft black fruit aromas along with cooked raspberry, mushroom and game notes, backed by bacon-like oak. A soft nutty oxidative hint is present. The palate is full and expansive with soft, savoury, cooked red berry fruit flavours supported by soft, rounded tannins and lowish acidity. A little oxidation as well as alcohol heat is present. This will be a relatively early maturing wine, say drinking best 6-9+ years ahead.  May 2011
