Review Date : 25-Jun-2012
40% Pinot Gris, 36% Riesling and 24% Gewurztraminer from 6 y.o. vines in the Hakataramea Valley. The fruit hand-picked and WBP, 100% tank fermented, the Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer together to 12.5% alc. and 2.0 g/L rs, The Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer portion was aged on lees for 2 months in old French oak barrels. Bright, pale lemon-yellow colour with some green hues. This has a complex bouquet with reductive notes intertwined with minerals, florals and stonefruits and some earthy elements, all expressed with restraint. Dry to taste, flint and stonefruit flavours feature, with some richness evident on impact, leading to a soft-textured mid-palate. The mouthfeel becomes crisp and dry and carries through to a finish with florals, stonefruits and slate-like flavours. This is a crisp and dry individual blend with restraint and gentle texture. Match with antipasto and poultry dishes over the next 3-4 years. 375 dozen made. 16.0/20 Jun 2012 RRP $32.00
