Pasqua ‘Romeo & Juliet’ ‘Passione Sentimento’ Veneto IGT 2014

Blended Red from Italy - Veneto
Review Date : 26-Sep-2016
Full, even, dark ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full and reserved in expression, unfolding light and gentle aromas of ripe dark-red berry and plum fruit, harmoniously integrated with black plums and nuances of raisins, and earthy and jam-like elements. Medium-full bodied, the palate features rich and luscious, mouthfilling flavours of sweetly ripe dark-red berry fruit and plums with hints of raisins that for a good core with depth and concentration. The fruit sweetness is enlivened and lifted by fresh, lacy acidity, and supported by moderately extracted, fine-grained tannins. This has a glycerol-like unctuousness which carries to a long and sustained finish of sweet plums. Rather quiet on the nose, this Veneto Passimento red has rich, sweet and succulent red berry and plum flavours with fine tannins and a near unctuous flow. Serve with roasted red meats over the next 5+ years. A blend of 40% Merlot, 30% Corvina and 30% Croatina, a portion of the Merlot and Corvina dried one month on wooden trays for 30% dehydration, and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 3 months in second use tonneaux. 17.5/20 Sep 2016 RRP $19.99
