Pasqua ‘Morago’ Appassite Veneto IGT 2013

Blended Red from Italy - Veneto
Review Date : 26-Sep-2016
Full, even, dark ruby-red colour with garnet hues, lighter on the rim. This has a tight and elegantly concentrated and intense nose with penetrating aromas of ripe, savoury black and dark-red berry fruits entwined with piquant herbs, complexed by nuances of raisins, earth and nutty oak elements. Medium-full bodied and finely concentrated, the palate possesses a tight core of sweetly ripened blackberry and black cherry fruit with notes of plums, raisins and lifted herb elements. The mouthfeel is lively and vibrant with acid vitality, and fin-grained, flowery tannin extraction provides support and structure. The wine flows with concentration and linearity, leading to a long, lingering, fine-textured finish with sweet plum and cherry fruit. This is an elegant, sweetly rich and succulent Appassite Veneto red with dark cherry and plum fruit, raisins and herbs, and a fine-grained structure. Match with Middle Eastern lamb dishes and semi-hard cheeses over the next 6+ years. A blend of 30% each Merlot, Corvina and Croatina, and 10% Cabernet, the Merlot and Corvina dried one month on wooden trays for 30% dehydration, and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 3 months in second use tonneaux. 18.0/20 Sep 2016 RRP $19.99
